There are many great DVDs with beautiful images and lovely music for babies. However, there haven’t been many, if any, that I’ve come across that help support a child’s early language skills. Thankfully, Mallory Lewis (daughter of Shari Lewis, the creator of “Lamb Chop”) has a new series called Phonics 4 Babies. With singing puppets, Mallory introduces children to 300 key words and phrases.
I’ve watched the first DVD in the series, “Baby’s First Words” with my youngest son. I found it to be bright, cute, and very good at introducing words, the alphabet, and some manners. I loved how Mallory introduces letters and numbers in an entertaining and educative manner. The series is perfectly suited for young children getting ready to speak or those that have already begun. With animation mixed in with Mallory and the Tummy Tots, it kept my son’s attention and gave me support in introducing early communication skills.
Phonics 4 Babies will be released on September 25. For more information on the series and some fun printable activities, you can visit http://www.phonics4babies.com/.
