Like most moms, I’m wary of letting my oldest son watch too much television. When I do put on a DVD, I want it to be something that he will enjoy and learn from. Recently we’ve been checking out different types of shows and DVDS.
One of my son’s favorites has been Go, Potty, Go. This is a cute DVD that helps excite toddlers for their potty endeavors. This DVD has a very catchy potty song and bright and friendly characters. My son was definitely more excited for his big boy pants and for pottying after watching it. Go, Potty, Go is fun and definitely perfect for any toddler getting ready to start pottying. It really has been very engaging for my son with the combination of real life video and animation.
Another fun and educational DVD is Kids Love Spanish. This is the perfect vehicle to introduce your child to Spanish. In the first volume, basic words are the focus. Each word is introduced to the viewer in writing in English and Spanish and then with different children pronouncing the word in Spanish. The word is also used in context. This DVD series would be perfect for a wide age range as it includes younger and older children.
Another recent DVD discovery is Learning Magic with Lyn. Lyn Dillies is a ‘master illusionist’ and illustrates 11 tricks using everyday, household objects. Lyn then demonstrates how the trick is conducted. I think this DVD would be great for children a little older than my son, especially young thinkers or children interested in learning magic.
Be sure to check out Go, Potty, Go, Kids Love Spanish, and Learning Magic with Lyn.
